Journal Committee

Article VIII, Section 6

The Journal Committee has the contractual authority and responsibility, under the Publisher Agreement jointly signed by the American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA) and British Association of Clinical Anatomy (BACA), to manage the journal, its offices and employees; set editorial policy; oversee its budget and financial affairs; appoint the Editor-in-Chief; and negotiate as necessary with its editors, editorial board and publisher.

The {Joint} Journal Committee has the contractual authority and responsibility, under the Publisher Agreement jointly signed by the American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA) and British Association of Clinical Anatomy (BACA), to manage the journal, its offices and employees; set editorial policy; oversee its budget and financial affairs; appoint the Editor-in-Chief; and negotiate as necessary with its editors, editorial board and publisher. The AACA Past President is the chair of the {Joint} Journal Committee. The BACA {Past} President is the Vice Chair and shall function as the chair in the absence of the AACA Past President. The Committee shall distribute Minutes of its meetings electronically to both AACA and BACA Councils within 30 days of each {Joint} Journal Committee meeting.

Composition and Membership. The composition of the {Joint} Journal Committee is established in the Publisher Agreement with AACA and BACA and is based upon the relative number of paid-up members in AACA and BACA. The Committee's composition shall range from seven (7) to nine (9) members. The Committee's size and composition shall be reviewed annually in accordance with Subsection C. The seven (7)-member committee constituted as a result of the approval of this Bylaw Section shall consist of four (4) AACA members, one (1) BACA member, the Editor-In-Chief, and a Publisher's Representative. The four (4) AACA members shall be the President, Past President, President-Elect and Treasurer. BACA is represented initially by one (1) member who shall be its {Past} President. Each BACA member of the {Joint} Journal Committee will be a gratis Affiliate AACA Member for the duration of his/her term on the Committee. The Editor-in-Chief of the journal is an ex officio non-voting member, and the publisher shall name a representative to serve as an advisor to the committee. The Publisher's Representative shall be invited to participate in all meetings but has no voting or other privileges of membership.

paid-up member is defined for the purpose of Article VIII, Section 6 as an individual who is receiving a personal copy of the journal, either printed or electronically, from the publisher as a direct result of his/her membership in AACA or BACA.

The ratio of AACA to BACA paid-up memberships shall be reviewed on August 1st of each year, and the initial ratio of four (4) AACA to one (1) BACA member shall be adjusted to reflect a significant change in the relative number of paid-up AACA to BACA Members. If there is an increase in the relative number of paid-up AACA to BACA members and an additional AACA member is called for then the AACA Association Secretary followed by the AACA Program Secretary shall join the Committee. If there is an increase in the relative number of paid- up BACA to AACA members and an additional BACA member is called for then the BACA President-Elect followed by the Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Membership Secretary shall join the Committee in this order.
