AACA Council Awards
AACA Council Award Descriptions
In fall of 2018 the American Association of Clinical Anatomists developed several awards in an effort for the Association to recognize members who are making significant research contributions to the Anatomy field and foster an atmosphere of support which will generate strong future research contributions. These awards are for oral and poster presentations during the AACA annual meeting.
The winners will be selected by the AACA Council. The best oral and best poster presentations will be recognized in the following categories:
1. Clinical Anatomy Translational Research Award ($250)
• For work of superior quality regarding anatomy as it relates to translational research.
2. Clinical Anatomy Junior Faculty Awards ($250)
• For work of superior quality regarding any field of Clinical Anatomy.
• For faculty up to Assistant Professor level (verified with the university).
3. Clinical Anatomy Senior Faculty Awards ($250)
• For work of superior quality regarding any field of Clinical Anatomy.
• For faculty in Associate or Professor levels (verified with the university).
4. Clinical Anatomy Education Award ($250)
• For work of superior quality regarding anatomy as it relates to educational research.
Both oral and poster presentations must demonstrate scientific quality, namely:
• Clear statement of research question
• Justification of study via current literature
• Rational study design
• Skilled implementation
• Empirically-grounded conclusions
The presentation should additionally demonstrate the following:
A. Best Oral presentation:
• Excellence: overall technical merit and mastery of topic
• Creativity and innovation: originality and uniqueness of approach
• Significance of work: thoroughness, analysis and overall impact on the field now and future
B. Best Poster Presentation:
• Excellence: overall technical merit
• Creative but scientifically factual
• Visually focused: clarity and visual appeal
• Innovatively combines text and figures
• Understandable to a diverse audience
